What Is A CEICC?
The Council-certified Environmental Infection Control Consultant (CEICC) may help in preventing infection control problems within the built environment. A CEICC advises building owners during demolition, remodeling, repair and renovation projects. A CEICC can help identify construction practices which might contribute to the spread of infection. A CEICC can help develop an infection control risk assessment (ICRA) and assemble a project management team.

A CEICC has verified knowledge of disciplines related to environmental infection control. The certification exams cover the most respected texts in the field. Those who pass the exams must understand the scientific principles governing infection control. They must be familiar with current practices and standards affecting consultants and investigators. Each CEICI or CEICC possesses verified experience in infection control consulting in one or more of the following settings:

To earn the Council-certified Environmental Infection Control Investigator (CEICI) or Council-certified Environmental Infection Control Consultant (CEICC) designations, a candidate must:

* Pass a rigorous examination based on broad industry knowledge rather than a course curriculum
* Earn the unanimous approval of the CEICI or CEICC certification board
* Re-certify every two years
* Participate in 20 hours of professional development activities each year

The effective practice of environmental infection control consulting requires specialized knowledge of a variety of subjects, including current standards and best practices.
